Right at the beginning, the course starts through the "Wildi Anstieg" and continues through the Oeschiwald. After a rapid descent, you get straight back onto the main cross-country skiing network. The route then leads across the village into the Höhwald forest to the west. This section leads through the middle of the forest - best views guaranteed! Along the impressive rock face of the Allmenalp, the route leads into the rear part of the village and turns off at the scout centre. As the trail continues, you will soon reach the traditional Ruedihus (country inn) and immediately reconnect to the main trail network.

Approach

By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.

Public transport

Arrival at Kandersteg railway station

To the south the Lötschberg, to the north the Kandertal: this station between Brig (38 min.) and Berne (61 min.) operates hourly intervals - an ideal base for many excursions.

Parking

Parking list Kandersteg

The destination has been decided, and so has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find the right parking option in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, cross-country skis on!

Safety instructions

Please note that you are basically on your own responsibility! The cross-country skiing association does not maintain its own rescue system and does not make a final slope check, as is usual in alpine skiing areas. Please also note the SOS information signs as well as the board of rules of conduct at the cross-country skiing centre.

Equipment

Hat, gloves, sunglasses: reliable equipment is particularly important on the cross-country trails. What dresses best? Ask our specialists in the numerous sports shops in the destination.

Tips

Whether with the classic technique or skating: cross-country skiing is healthy and fun!
