The access to Fründenhütte via the southern lakeshore (normal access) is currently closed. The closure is expected to last longer, which is why the access via the Fründen cord is to be renovated so that experienced mountain hikers can continue to visit the hut.
The board and the hut wardens recommend that the rope should only be used after the snow has melted and only in good weather conditions.
The path through the Fründenschnur is rated T4 (hiking scale) and is sometimes very exposed, but is equipped with steel cables and ropes in these areas. Hikers / climbers are requested to use a seat belt, via ferrata set and helmet during the ascent.
For ambitious mountain hikers this ascent should be a high light. Exposed but well secured, a magnificent view over the Oeschinensee and the end of the valley; a hiking destination that has gained in popularity in recent years.
