Gasterntal Valley

From the cool Kanderfirn to the roaring Klus: in the wild high valley of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the mountain water finds its way - this natural beauty inspires strollers, mountaineers and cyclists.

Take your time and discover the true treasures of the wild high valley, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The well-maintained hiking trails lead impressively along the Kander to the Kanderfirn. The cosy inns and mountain huts invite you to linger. The Gasterntal is also an ideal starting point for mountain hikers and mountaineers.

Please observe the traffic regulations, as this is a private road owned by Bäuert Gasterntal.The applicable permit fee can be purchased at the ticket machine or from Kandersteg Tourism.

Approach

Please note that there is a timetable on the first section of the route via the Felsengalerie and that cars are not allowed to cross. You may drive up every hour from a quarter to five and drive down from a quarter to half past five.

The access road is closed from the end of October to Mid-May.
