The Mutthorn Hut SAC is located at 2,788 m above sea level in the impressive glacier world between the Kander and Lauterbrunnen valleys. Surrounded by the Tschingel and Kander firn, it offers a unique starting point for high tours, glacier crossings, and ski tours in the heart of the Bernese Alps.
The approach to the hut is exclusively via glaciers and requires alpine experience, sure-footedness, and glacier equipment. One is rewarded with breathtaking views and the tranquility of high alpine nature.
Note: The tour to the Mutthorn Hut is only suitable for experienced mountaineers. Good planning and glacier equipment are absolutely necessary.

The new Mutthorn Hut has been erected and will open in mid-June 2026.
The old Mutthorn Hut has been completely dismantled.
