Escaping the water, you discover the "Höh" in a new way on this trail. Next to pines, the trail leads skilfully up the barren gravel ditches, whereupon you can enjoy the view over the small mountain village. After the view, the trail runs out and cools down through the forest back to the village of 1200 souls.
Approach
By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.
Public Transport
South of the Lötschberg, north of the Kander Valley. For this point between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.), an hourly train service is in operation
Parking
The destination has been decided, and so has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find the right parking facility in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, trail running boots on!
Directions
From the station square we follow the path towards the ski jump. Between the Kander and the tracks, this path leads to the weir. The first few metres of ascent are then on the Risetistrasse back towards the car transport, after the first ditch the path leads right into the forest. On a well-maintained and slightly exposed path you climb the heights. At the top, follow the ridge towards the viewpoint. Once you have reached the highest point of the route, follow the forest path towards Bütschels. At the clearing, keep left and you will reach Waldegg. On the hiking trail, take the right-hand path towards Bütschels and at the second fork, take the path past the old ski jump towards the railway station. As soon as you reach the road, 2 subways lead you back to the station square.
