Many streams flow from the Niesenkette into the valley. However, this Frutigen trail leads against the current towards Steinschlaghore. Trail runners do not have to run all the way up to reach the magnificent mountain forest and an impressive viewpoint high above the village. This route also does not have to hide in terms of sights during the descent: the return path is lined with magnificent chalets at Bäuert Winklen.

Public Transport

Arrival at Frutigen train station

The train stops here twice an hour, and many routes start here: 45 minutes from the capital, the Kandertal village acts as a transport hub for the region.

Parking

Frutigen parking lots

On this map, drivers can quickly find the suitable parking option in the Oberland community. So then: engine off, trail shoes on!

Directions

No unnecessary detours: After starting at Frutigen train station, this route leads directly along the Leimbach uphill. Soon the terrain becomes shadier – at the top in the Guferwald, the trail turns right towards the dance floor, then a hiking path takes you to the highest point ‘Valley’. Afterwards, the descent follows a narrow path down to Bäuert Winklen. Trail runners can also take the hiking path for the return journey to Frutigen.
