The crystal-clear Daubensee is located at 2,200 m above sea level. Amidst the beauty of nature, the idyllic lake invites you to linger. Disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the harmonious silence of the mountain world. Thanks to the good wind conditions, kitesurfers can occasionally be seen over the lake in summer. From November onwards, the lake disappears because, due to its shallow depth, it empties underground as winter approaches. In spring, the natural lake fills again through snowmelt.

Tips

Every year on the last day of July, the shepherd festival takes place at Daubensee. In the morning, farmers come with their sheep and hold them back until the "Gläck" – a mixture of bran and salt – is scattered. This is a special treat for the sheep. The 800 sheep rush down the steep slopes. This traditional festival celebrates the brotherhood between the people of Valais and Bern.
