At Iffigenalp, have a coffee at the mountain restaurant or lace up your trail running shoes and start running? A short break is indeed tempting, but the trail up to Iffigsee and further over the technical Hängstesprung naturally also beckons...
First, you go deeper into the wild romantic Iffig valley and then upwards. And suddenly, the Iffigsee lies at your feet. Slightly elevated, the path leads along the green side of the lake. The other side is the one with stones and scree. There are more altitude meters through mountain meadows uphill to the highest point of the route. Here follows a very short flat section, but before that, a break is worthwhile and the view back to the panorama with the Iffigsee. For technical runners, the highlight now follows through rocky terrain down the Hängstesprung. Once this passage is mastered, a top-class high trail practically begins. The trail leads for 5.5 kilometers with light ups and downs to Betelberg through open terrain with views of the surrounding Simmental mountain world. Shortly before the mountain station, at Alp Steistoos and at Leiterli, there is again the possibility for a stop. The Betelberg gondola then takes the altitude meters back down into the valley.
Observe the bus timetable Lenk-Iffigenalp and operating hours of the Betelberg gondola.
