The Lötschberger northern ramp leads over Kandersteg station to the church in Kandergrund, continuing on to Frutigen.

The first sign of the railway hiking trail awaits you already in Eggenschwand at the north portal of the Lötschberg Tunnel.

At the destination in Frutigen, among other things, the portal of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel can be seen.

Distances and shortcuts

If you want to shorten the hike, take the bus from Kandersteg to «Mitholz» and then take the most varied core section from there to Kandergrund on foot.

Other shorter variants are possible. The hiking trail passes three bus stops («Mitholz, Balmhorn», «Blausee» and «Kandergrund, Altels») and can thus be shortened.
Eggenschwand – Kandersteg station: 40 min.
Kandersteg station – Mitholz – Frutigen: 4 hrs. 35 min.
Frutigen–Innerkandergrund: 1 hr. 40 min.
Mitholz – Innerkandergrund: 1 hr. 10 min.
Kandersteg station – Blausee–Mitholz: 1 hr. 45 min.

The path is not passable with dogs (metal stairs).
