Over thousands of years, the Tschentbach stream has carved a deep gorge into the rock. Waterfalls, rock formations and historic water mills line the route. One of the highlights is the Pochtenkessel, where the Engstlige and Otterebach streams meet.
Approach
From Adelboden or Frutigen, take the bus to Im Tregel. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Cholerenschlucht gorge

Parking
Free parking is available at the Tregel car park.
Directions
Starting at the bus stop/parking lot "Tregel", after a 15-minute walk you reach the gorge. After passing through the gorge, the hiking trail leads past the impressive Pochtenkessel (where the Engstlige and the Otterebach flow together in a deep rock funnel) back to the starting point, which you reach after a final short ascent.
Safety Instructions
Rocks, stairs and bridges can be slippery when wet. Water levels can rise significantly after heavy rainfall. Use of the route is at your own risk.
Equipment
Sturdy, non-slip footwear is recommended.
Tips
After passing through the gorge, a detour to the Pochtenkessel is well worthwhile – especially when water levels are high.
