In mid-July, the sun rises before 6 a.m. - so you should get up early for the summit spectacle. Equipped with a headlamp, warm clothes, and enough stamina, you then ascend from the Bonderalp: for the three kilometers, about two and a half hours should be planned before you enjoy the first rays on the Bonderspitz. Afterwards, you can either descend to Adelboden in three hours or aim for the ten kilometers to Kandersteg via Bunderchrinde.

From Bern via Thun - Spiez - Frutigen to Adelboden.

By train to Frutigen, by bus to Adelboden, Post.

Paid parking is available in the Adelboden parking garage or in Ahorni.

Safety Instructions

Hiking is always at your own risk: Tourism Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg rejects any liability when using local trails. A good physical fitness and reliable assessment of the current weather and terrain conditions are indispensable for these routes.

Some surefootedness. Trekking shoes are recommended. Basic orientation skills.

Tips

As an alternative, this route can also be wonderfully split into two daily stages.

The Bonderalp can be reached on the previous day either on foot from the Margeli public transport stop in about two and a half hours (more info) or alternatively via an around seven-kilometer high-altitude hike from the Elsigenalp cable car mountain station (more info). After the sunrise, you can either leisurely descend to Adelboden in about three hours or choose the longer variant via Bunderchrinde and tackle the impressive ten-kilometer section to Kandersteg.
