The striking rock head northeast of Kandersteg – the Bire – draws all eyes to it. With the chairlift, one can comfortably reach the height of the idyllic Oeschinen Lake.
At the so-called "Tschäri," a summit of the Bire, three different climbing routes traverse the impressive rocky landscape.
For those who prefer hiking, the summit can also be reached via a demanding alpine hiking route in a wide loop towards the east.
Surefootedness and good footwear are essential – ascent is strongly discouraged in wet conditions or on old snow!
