The Mutthorn Hut SAC is located at 2,788 m above sea level amidst the impressive glacier world between the Kander and Lauterbrunnen valleys. Surrounded by Tschingel and Kander firn, it offers a unique starting point for high-altitude tours, glacier crossings, and ski tours in the heart of the Bernese Alps.
The approach to the hut is exclusively over glaciers and requires alpine experience, sure-footedness, and glacier equipment. One is rewarded with breathtaking views and the tranquility of high alpine nature.
Note: The tour to the Mutthorn Hut is suitable only for experienced mountain walkers. Good planning and glacier equipment are absolutely necessary.
CURRENT
The new Mutthorn Hut has been erected and will open in mid-June 2026.
The old Mutthorn Hut has been completely dismantled.
Reservations will be accepted from now on via the hut reservation system.
