Cattle Drive Engstligenalp

At the end of June, a grand spectacle takes place in the Frutigland: the alpine drive of cattle to the Engstligenalp! The path is long, steep, and narrow, yet the 500 animals spare no effort. They shuffle along behind the experienced herdsmen and their helpers; step by step along the steep, rocky trail. After all, they know that they will be allowed to spend the next few weeks on the lush green summer pastures of the Engstligenalp.
Arrival Information
An extra bus departs at 6 AM from Adelboden Post to the valley station Adelboden, Unter dem Birg. The bus stops at all regular stops.
Programm
from 5 AM – Start of Cable Car Operation
The impressive ascent to the alp begins early in the morning. From 5 AM, the team of Engstligenalp mountain cableways will comfortably take you to the alp by cable car.
6 AM – Extra Bus
An extra bus departs at 6 AM from Adelboden Post to the valley station Adelboden, Unter dem Birg. The bus stops at all regular stations.
6 to 10 AM – Alpine Breakfast
The Engstligenalp mountain hotel and the raclette hut invite hungry guests to enjoy the traditional alpine breakfast. Get your wristband for the breakfast directly at the ticket counter of the valley station.

Prices Älplerzmorge:
Adults: CHF 39 (excluding aerial cable car) / CHF 65 (including aerial cable car)
Children (6 – 15 years): CHF 19.50 (excluding aerial cable car) / CHF 32.50 (including aerial cable car)
Please note: No table reservations are possible.
Hint / Advice
For safety reasons and the well-being of the animals, the hiking trail will be closed during the cattle drive.
