A visit to the beekeeper

19/07 - 09/08/2023

This event has already taken place.

Take the opportunity to look over the shoulder of a beekeeper at his work. How many bees live in a colony? What do bees do in winter? What does a queen bee look like? Why do bees swarm? What does fresh honey taste like straight from the comb? This and many other exciting things about bees and beekeeping can be learned on a tour.

Jan Grnig owns about 25 bee colonies and has been looking after them for 10 years. The apiary in Saanenmser is located at 1300 m above sea level on the edge of a forest and is surrounded by organically managed ecological meadows. He sells the honey in the village shop or directly to his customers.
