The Via Alpina crosses the Swiss Alps in 20 stages. The route from Griesalp to Kandersteg is one of the most impressive sections, linking the Kiental valley with the Hohtürli, the Blüemlisalp Hut and Oeschinensee.
From Griesalp, the trail leads via Bundalp up to the Hohtürli at 2,836 m. This high-alpine pass is the highlight of the stage. From here, the trail continues past the Blüemlisalp Hut and descends to Oeschinensee before continuing to Kandersteg.
Approach
By car via Spiez or by car train from Goppenstein to Reichenbach.
As this is a point-to-point stage, we recommend travelling by public transport.
Public Transport
Public transport: Reichenbach → Kiental → Griesalp
Take the train to Reichenbach. From Reichenbach railway station, the Post Bus runs to Griesalp.
Destination: Kandersteg
From Kandersteg, take the train towards Frutigen, Bern or Brig.

Reichenbach Märitplatz or Kiental–Ramslauenen chairlift – paid parking

Safety Instructions
The stage crosses the Hohtürli through high-alpine and partly exposed terrain. Sure-footedness and good physical fitness are required. Depending on the season, snowfields may remain around the Hohtürli and at higher elevations. Always check the current conditions and trail closures before setting out.
The route is undertaken at your own risk. Tourismus Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg accepts no liability for the use of local routes.

Equipment
On this partly exposed, red-and-white marked trail, sure-footed hikers will feel comfortable wearing good hiking shoes.
Tips
Start early – the ascent to the Hohtürli is particularly challenging. For a more relaxed experience, you can plan an overnight stay at the Blüemlisalp Hut.
