If you’re looking for a picture-perfect Swiss landscape, the Via Alpina is the perfect choice. In 20 day-long stages, it takes you right across the northern Alps, passing many of Switzerland’s highlights. Undoubtedly, the stage from Griesalp to Kandersteg—featuring the popular Blüemlisal Hut and Lake Oeschinen—is one of the highlights of the route.

The route begins in the fairy-tale world of Griesalp, deep in the Kiental valley, and takes seven hours to reach Lake Oeschinensee via the Bundalp and the Hohtürli Pass.

The pass trail runs along the boundary between the glacial landscape and the green Pre-Alps, offering plenty of variety. Those who spend the night at the SAC’s Blüemlisalp Hut are treated to the ultimate high-mountain experience as a bonus.
