The tour starts at the Hubelmatte, from where the route leads through clearings in the forest up to the Lischböde not far from the imposing Iffig Falls. This marshland landscape is very beautiful in winter with its small, widely spaced fir trees. The rest of the ascent up to the Pörisgrat leads through unspoilt winter landscape in open terrain. On the ridge, which is more of a broad ridge than a crest, the panorama of the Albristhorn, Metschstand and Oberlaubhorn is definitely worth a break and a photo. The descent follows back over the ridge to Summerwald. As with the ascent, the route leads through the snow, from clearing to clearing, back to Hubelmatte.

Approach

From Lenk in the direction of Iffigenalp to the Hubelmatte car park.

Public Transport

From Lenk railway station, take the bus to Alpenrösli. Please note the very limited departure times. Timetable: SBB

From Alpenrösli, walk 15 minutes along the road into the valley to Hubelmatte.

Parking

There are almost no parking spaces at Hubelmatte in winter. A taxi from Lenk or the bus to Alpenrösli is preferable.

Directions

This snowshoe tour is signposted.

The best thing about a snowshoe tour is to make the first track to the summit. On this snowshoe tour, this can be strenuous with the metres of altitude to be covered, so you should allow enough time after a snowfall.

Safety Instructions

For snowshoe tours, the appropriate equipment and the necessary expertise (avalanche awareness, alpine skills) are mandatory! If you have no experience in assessing the avalanche situation in open terrain, it is better to go on a snowshoe tour with a trained mountain guide.

Tips

Please note: There are almost no parking spaces at Hubelmatte, so please travel by taxi or bus to Alpenrösli.
