Few things fit together as well as heights and trails. The surrounding peaks provide an impressive backdrop, while snow reliability and well-prepared tracks guarantee the right surface – whether for classic technique, skating, alone, or with your dog.
Height trail Sunnbüel. It is flat, it is wide, it is high: with these features, the Spittelmatte is naturally predestined for a sunny cross-country skiing round. After a short descent from the mountain station, up to 5 km of trails await on the snow-covered plateau.
Cross-country skiers with good downhill technique start the route at the mountain station. For weaker skiers, however, we recommend walking down the first steep descent.
The dog trail shares the track with the normal trail, please show consideration for other cross-country skiers, pick up your four-legged friend's waste, and please do not let him run freely.
In combination with a seasonal regional cross-country skiing pass Kandersteg, we offer a connecting subscription for the winter season at an attractive CHF 80.00. Available at the ticket office at the valley station Sunnbüel.
In combination with a trail pass, we offer our cross-country skiers discounted prices for the return trip with the Kandersteg-Sunnbüel cable car.
For your dog there is an annual ticket for CHF 15.00. Available at the ticket office at the valley station Sunnbüel.
At the mountain station, a changing room, lockers, and showers are available to you.
Approach
By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.
Public Transport
South of the Lötschberg, north of the Kandertal: For this train station between Brig (38 min) and Bern (61 min), the hourly service applies – an ideal base for many excursions.
Continue by bus! The AFA bus runs every hour and takes 10 minutes from Kandersteg station to the valley station of the cable car. From there it's a comfortable gondola ride up to 1936 m above sea level.

A parking lot is located directly at the Sunnbüel cable car.
Directions
