The Wintertäli trail lies just below the mountain station in the valley of the same name. As a cross-country skier, you save yourself the descent and the climb from Spittelmatte.
The actual loop in Wintertäli itself is about 1.1 km long and has 25 m of elevation difference with a few short and sharp ascents/descents, suitable for ambitious cross-country skiers who want to refine their downhill and turning techniques or train endurance.
In combination with a Kandersteg regional cross-country pass, we offer a supplementary subscription for the aerial cableway for the winter season 2023/24 at an attractive CHF 80.00. In combination with a trail pass, we offer our cross-country skiers discounted prices for the return trip with the Kandersteg-Sunnbüel aerial cableway. Available at the ticket office at the Sunnbüel valley station.
At the mountain station, there is a changing room, storage lockers, and showers available to you.
Approach
By car via Spiez - Frutigen or the car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.
Public Transport
South of the Lötschberg, north of the Kandertal: for this train station between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.) there is an hourly service – an ideal base for many excursions.
Parking
Parking lot at the Sunnbüel aerial cableway
Directions
From the Sunnbüel mountain station via the feeder trail to the junction of Gemmiweg, Godi & Kari children's hiking trail as well as Altelsblickweg. From here, go down to the right past Altelsblickweg towards Kandersteg into Wintertäli.
Safety Instructions
Please note that you are fundamentally responsible for yourself on the trails! The trail association does not maintain its own rescue system and does not perform a final slope check as is usual in alpine ski areas.
Equipment
Hat, gloves, sunglasses: reliable equipment is especially important on the trails. What to wear best? Ask our specialists in the numerous sports shops in the destination.
