First, you ascend about 1000 meters of altitude with the Stand-Xpress to 2100 m above sea level. Before you start, the Metschstand mountain restaurant invites you to stop by and settle in comfortably on the mountain.
The Metschstand is the starting point for various hikes. This one leads us after the first section of the hiking trail to the Brenggen reservoir lake. The Caribbean-like reservoir lake in the Brenggen meadows draws all attention. The view over the green upper Simmental is especially appealing. It is worthwhile to take a short detour to the Hahnenmoospass afterward, where the eponymous Hahnenmoos mountain restaurant pampers its guests. The hiking trail then continues partly through the forest and through managed alpine pasture down to the Metsch middle station.
