The Nordrampe Trail follows the historic Lötschberg mountain railway line and, on the return leg, runs partly directly alongside the railway line and partly above it, offering stunning views. Spectacular views of viaducts, spiral tunnels and the Kandertal valley open up time and again. The trail offers a perfect blend of smooth, runnable sections and slightly technical passages – ideal for varied runs with plenty of panoramic views.
Directions
The trail follows the northern slope down the valley via Mitholz to Kandergrund along a natural track. At the old BKW building in Kandergrund, turn right towards the church. The return journey to Kandersteg follows a narrow path, mostly running above the railway line with lovely views of the Kandertal valley.
Alternative: Return by bus from Altels in Kandergrund, or continue along the side road to Frutigen and take the train or bus back to Kandersteg.
Safety Instructions
Je extremer die Bedingungen, desto wichtiger die Ausrüstung. Längere Touren in den Bergen erfordern z.B. wetterfeste Kleidung und einen kleinen Laufrucksack mit Verpflegung.

Tips
With a bit of luck, you can spot a train navigating the loops – a real highlight. Thanks to several train and bus stops along the route, the trail can be planned flexibly and shortened if needed. Also a great option in bad weather.
