First, you have to climb the altitude meters up to the ridge to Tierberg. Until there, the path leads through tended alpine pastures. From Tierberg begins the most spectacular part of the hike. The path runs along the rocky ridge – sometimes wider, sometimes narrower – definitely only for surefooted and fearless mountain hikers. The panoramic view is wonderful and the summit cross of the Albristhorn is soon in sight. From Albristhorn to Furggeli, concentration is still required on the alpine route. Then it goes through the elongated, green and rural Fermeltal valley and down to the station in Matten, St. Stephan. The less densely populated Fermeltal delights with its primitive houses and seclusion.

Return to the starting point by train from Matten, St. Stephan station.
