Gspaltenhorn Hut

GPX
  • Difficulty difficult
  • Duration 3:30 h
  • Distance 7,9 km
  • 1048 m

The peaks and towers of the Gspaltenhorn are well known far and wide. At the foot of these impressive rocks, deep in the Kiental, on a narrow rock ledge high above the Gamchi Glacier lies the recently modernized alpine and summer hut. The routes to neighboring huts and valleys (Sefinenfurgga, Hohtürli, Gamchilücke) are very popular.

From the Griesalp, follow the normal route initially on the paved, later gravel road over Steineberg to Alp Bürgli. A road then leads into Gamchi. From here, follow the mountain path through the rocky outcrop to the Sillere and further to the eastern lateral moraine of the Gamchi Glacier. Over grassy and scree slopes, you reach the Gspaltenhorn hut in a southeast direction.

Approach

Reichenbach - Kiental - Griesalp. The steep part of the route (from Tschingel) is regulated by one-way traffic, steep with tight curves.
