The peaks and towers of the Gspaltenhorn are known far and wide. The recently modernised alpine and summer hut lies at the foot of these imposing rocks, at the very back of the Kiental, on a narrow rocky outcrop high above the Gamchi Glacier. The crossings to neighbouring huts and valleys (Sefinenfurgga, Hohtürli, Gamchilücke) are very popular.

From Griesalp, follow the normal route, initially along the tarmac road, later gravelled, via Steineberg to Alp Bürgli. A track leads on to Gamchi. From here, follow the mountain path through the rock step to Sillere and on to the eastern lateral moraine of the Gamchi glacier. You reach the Gspaltenhorn hut via grass and scree slopes in a south-easterly direction.

Approach

Reichenbach - Kiental - Griesalp. The steep part of the route (from Tschingel) is one-way traffic, steep with tight bends.
