From the Elsigenalp, hikers reach the Elsighorn in around 3.5 hours via this well-marked trail. The demanding snowshoe ascent is rewarded with a magnificent view that is truly second to none.

Approach

Leave the A6 / A8 motorway at the Spiez exit towards "Kandersteg / Car shuttle". Continue to Reichenbach and Frutigen. In Frutigen, leave the bypass at the exit "Frutigen South" towards Adelboden up to Achseten. Follow the signpost "Elsigbach" in Achseten and turn immediately after the second bridge left to Elsigbach.

Paid parking is available at the valley station of the Elsigenalp cable car.

Equipment

Wear sturdy footwear, warm clothes, and sunglasses. From the telescopic pole to the avalanche shovel – being well prepared makes the way to the trail better. Professional snowshoe equipment can also be rented at various sports shops in the destination.

Tips

2 or 8 kilometers, across the plateau or the valley floor: the selection of winter hiking trails is extensive in Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg. Even experienced outdoor enthusiasts still find plenty of new terrain to explore.
