A frozen waterfall

From the Berghotel Oeschinensee, an easy walk along the shore leads to a special winter wonder of nature: even in frosty temperatures, a small stream cascades down the rock face. The water instantly freezes at the bottom, forming an ice tower that can grow several metres high over time.

Approach

By car via Spiez - Frutigen or by car train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg.

Public Transport

The Lötschberg to the south, the Kandertal to the north: this station between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.) has hourly intervals - an ideal base for many excursions.

Parking

The destination has been decided, and so has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find the right parking option in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, winter hiking boots on!

Safety Instructions

The signposts of winter hiking trails are pink. The intermediate markers are poles and have a pink tip.
