From Kandersteg station, follow the BLS line into the valley. At the end of Eisbahnweg, turn left over the bridge and immediately right into Hüttematteweg. Pass the beautifully preserved Ruedihus dating from 1853, cross the road and walk towards the Waldhotel Doldenhorn. Before the hotel, turn right into the forest, from where the ascent begins. The path winds its way up through the forest in many hairpin bends until the next junction, where you have to keep left. The path now winds gently up and down through the mountain forest to Undere Biberg. Here it meets the hut trail coming from Bärentritt.
The path through the shady forest becomes a little steeper again and then climbs steeply along the stream before joining up with the alpine path leading over from the Fisialp on the Obere Biberg. From there, there are still around 100 meters of ascent to the Doldenhornhütte.
The hut is located on a hilltop, which offers a fascinating panoramic view of the valley, Lake Oeschinen and the mountains.

Approach via Öschiwald - Bärentritt - Biberg
From Kandersteg railroad station, follow the path along the Oeschibach stream. Please follow the path on the right-hand side of the Oeschibach in the direction of travel, following the 'Doldenhornhütte' signs. Continue along the mountain road for a short distance until you reach the junction where you turn right onto the mountain path towards the Doldenhornhütte.
First, the white-red-white marked path climbs steeply uphill. You climb higher through a rock step secured with a wire rope, called the Bärentritt, directly below the hut. After this step, you have to cross a stream. Don't worry, thanks to the newly built bridge there are no wet shoes. Under the ropes of the cable car and the power supply, the trail continues almost without any incline to the next mountain stream crossing.
Shortly after the bridge, you come to a fork in the trail. Continue left to the Doldenhornhütte and right back to Kandersteg. Perhaps you will take this variant on the way back.

Arrival at Kandersteg railroad station
The Lötschberg to the south, the Kandertal to the north: this station between Brig (38 min.) and Bern (61 min.) has an hourly service - an ideal base for many excursions.
Parking
The destination has been decided, as has the parking space - on this map, drivers can quickly and easily find the right parking option in the Oberland municipality. Well then: engine off, hiking boots on!

No need for heavy shoes here: this hike is well marked in red and white and secured. Of course, it can be steep at times - but the Doldenhornhütte awaits you with food and drink.
