Alp Culture.
The Färmel valley lies about 400 meters above the valley floor. The typical landscape is mountain farming and in summer the alpine farming. Our hike leads past the alpine summering areas Albristen and Wyssenberg. The warm and often moist southern exposures of this area are productive and well developed. Larch forests underline the warm location. After the ascent over the long ridge of the Schatthore, it goes briefly over the somewhat exposed ridge (2,085 m asl), the highest point of the day and a beautiful starting place for many paragliders. One last look up to the mighty Albristhorn, then we descend in many switchbacks down to Laubbärgli.
Highlights:
- Encounter with cowsheds of all sizes
- Visit to the Alp cheese dairy Alp Unter Albrist, Tel. 033 722 15 75
- A glass of fresh alpine raw milk
- Listening to the mountain streams
- Admiring the golden larches in autumn
