At 1800 m above sea level, you can really take it easy: This 3.7-kilometer circular hike mostly runs on flat terrain and lasts about 75 minutes. This leaves plenty of time to thoroughly enjoy the two bodies of water at Elsigenalp. While the open Brandsee lies close to the starting point at the mountain station, the mysterious Elsigsee hides in the dense coniferous forest. Both places are perfect for resting, playing, or splashing around. There is also always plenty of wood for grilling high above the Engstligtal.
Public Transport
While drivers go up the Engstligtal panoramic road, public transport passengers reach the valley station Elsigbach from Frutigen station via AFA and shuttle bus – the cable car takes you to the alpine destination in 8 minutes.
Parking
The travel destination is set, the parking spot as well – on this map, drivers quickly and easily find the suitable parking option in the Oberland community. Well then: engine off, hiking boot on!
Safety Instructions
Even open hiking trails can still be partly covered with snow. Use is at your own risk: Tourism Adelboden-Lenk-Kandersteg assumes no liability for the use of local routes.
Equipment
No need for heavy boots here: This easy hike is well marked and secured in yellow or red-white.
Hungry? Guests are well served at the Berghaus Elsigenalp or the Elsighütte restaurant.
Tips
More than swimming: Stand-up paddlers and model boats also cruise on the Brandsee.
